Procession to Dust
I have scooped up many bones from forest floors and over the years have garnered a surprising number.
As a sculptor working in natural and found objects I deeply appreciate the opportunity to study these forms. I regard them as objet d’art.
Thoroughly cleaned by highly specialized organisms and whitened in the sun, they are sanitized naturally.
Delivering the bones from further exposure to the elements does hinder the process of decomposition.
I like to think of ours as a reciprocal event. I enjoy the bones in the comfort of my shelter and in return I can, in a way, suspend their procession into dust.
